LONDON (ICIS)--The outage at BASF’s methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant at Antwerp in Belgium continues and is likely to last until the end of this week, a company source said on Tuesday.
The MDI unit was shut down last week and the outage was originally expected to last until the middle of last week, but it has since been extended.
The shutdown was the result of ongoing production problems. Output has been restricted at the facility since early August, for technical reasons.
The plant has a nameplate capacity of 560,000 tonnes/year and is the largest MDI unit in Europe.
