LONDON (ICIS)--German potash fertilizer major K+S said on Wednesday that it has started construction of new centre for analysis and research.

K+S said that the centre at Unterbreizbach in Germany’s Thuringia state would further strengthen its technological position in the extraction and processing of German rock and potash salts. In addition, the centre will carry out research and analysis for K+S subsidiaries in Canada and other countries.

The centre is expected to employ more than 90 scientists, technicians, engineers and other experts after starting up in late 2015, K+S said.

Its construction is supported by the Thuringia state government, Kassel-based K+S said without disclosing financial details.

The centre is located close to K+S’ production sites in Unterbreizbach, Hattorf and Wintershall.
