BERLIN (ICIS)--US aromatics activity appeared thin on Monday with many trade participants out of the market for the 47th annual European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting in Berlin.

As a result, spot prices were flat to start the week compared with Friday.

Prompt benzene held at $4.19-4.25/gal FOB (free on board), toluene remained at $3.45-3.68/gal FOB and mixed xylene stayed at $4.11-4.13/gal.

Trade sources that were in the market this morning said they expect US aromatics activity to remain slow for the duration of the EPCA.

The EPCA meeting runs from 5-9 October.
