SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao plans to restart its 200,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone plant at Caojing in late October/early November, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
The plant, which can produce 120,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was shut on 17 August to undergo regular maintenance, the source said.
The producer may undertake minor capacity expansion during the maintenance shutdown, although the details were not immediately available, the source added.
In addition to the Caojing plant, Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao operates two phenol/acetone units at Pudong in Shanghai, with respective phenol/acetone capacities of 60,000 tonnes/year and 100,000 tonnes/year.
Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao’s two phenol/acetone units at the Pudong site are operating normally, the source added.
