SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Sinochem International’s force majeure on the supply from its 50,000 tonne/year polyols plant at Ningbo in Zhejiang province is expected to last until next week after the unit was shut on 8 October because of Typhoon Fitow, a company source said on Thursday.

The plant, which produces rigid and case polyols, is expected to resume production on 15 October, the source said.

Fitow lashed eastern China with heavy rain and flooding earlier this week, disrupting road and sea transportation as well as the supply of several Chinese producers in the region.

The company will not be able to fulfil its commitments for October shipments because of the shutdown at the Ningbo plant and is now negotiating for first-half November
cargoes with players in other regions such as the Middle East, according to the source.
