Japan’s Mitsubishi to shut Kashima No 2 cracker in May-June 2014

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical will carry out maintenance at its 489,000 tonne/year No 2 naphtha cracker at Kashima in May-June 2014, said a source close to the company on Friday.

Separately, its 392,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker at the same site would be mothballed from May next year, the source said.

Mitsubishi Chemical also operates a third cracker in Mizushima with an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes/year.
