HOUSTON (ICIS)--Enterprise Products is expanding its Aegis pipeline to deliver up to 425,000 bbl/day of ethane to the petrochemical corridor along the Gulf Coast, the US midstream energy firm said on Monday.
With initial deliveries expected to begin during Q2 2014, the 270-mile (435-km) pipeline will start at Enterprises’s liquids storage complex in Mont Belvieu, Texas, and deliver to ethylene production facilities between Beaumont, Texas, and Napoleonville, Louisiana.
The execution of long-term agreements is enabling Enterprise to increase the size of the pipeline to 20 inches (50 cm) in diameter, and the company is conducting a supplemental open season that will close on 14 November.
“As an extension of our midstream network that features access to 100m bbl of storage capacity at our Mont Belvieu complex, the Aegis pipeline system offers a complete and integrated solution for meeting the needs of both producers and consumers of growing domestic supplies of ethane,” said AJ Jim Teague, chief operating officer of Enterprise’s general partner.
“Together, Aegis and our South Texas ethane pipeline enable Enterprise to provide ethylene facilities from Corpus Christi to the Mississippi River with reliable supplies of ethane through a header system anchored by our Mont Belvieu complex,” he added.
