SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) is expected to restart its 1.03m tonne/year naphtha cracker in Mailiao by 31 October following the end of a routine turnaround, a source close to the company said on Friday.

The plant was taken off line since 16 September.

FPCC runs two other crackers in Mailiao — the No 1 cracker that can produce around 700,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and the No 3 cracker with a nameplate ethylene capacity of 1.2m tonnes/year.

These plants are running at 100% rate, the source added.

Separately, FPCC plans to carry out maintenance at its No 3 cracker in the third quarter of next year, with no firm period determined at this juncture.
