LONDON (ICIS)—European ethylene imports to the EU from the rest of the world were up in July but down  in August compared with the same periods in 2012, according to Eurostat data released on Monday.

July imports were up by almost 20% but decreased by about 83% in August.

Export data showed  significant declines for both months, falling by 48% in July year-on-year and falling to almost zero in August, highlighting the end of the spring maintenance slate and the care with which European ethylene producers were tailoring production to suit demand.
