SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Xianglu Petrochemical expects to shut its 1.65m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Xiamen in Fujian province on 24-25 October for minor maintenance, a company source said on Thursday.

The maintenance is expected to last for four to five days, the source said.

The shutdown will not affect PTA supply as the company has cut its downstream polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle production because of poor market conditions, the source added.

The 250,000 tonne/year PET bottle chip line at the same site, which was shut on 19 October, is operated by Dragon Group, the parent company of Xianglu Petrochemical.
