SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Jilin Petrochemical restarted its phenol/acetone unit on 25 October after completing an overhaul and debottlenecking, a company source said.

The phenol/acetone capacity of the plant, which was taken off line on 14 October, has been expanded by 25% to 150,000 tonnes/year during the shutdown.

Jilin’s expanded plant can now produce 94,000 tonnes of phenol and 56,000 tonnes of acetone.

The producers expects to reach on-spec phenol output and resume phenol shipment from 28 October.

However, it will not be offering acetone to the market because the entirety of its acetone output is captively consumed by its downstream units,  the source added.

Jilin Petrochemical is a subsidiary of oil and gas producer PetroChina.
