HOUSTON (ICIS)--US third-quarter 2013 benzene production and inventories were up from the same time a year ago, according to data released on Thursday by the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM).
Third-quarter benzene production was up at 412m gal, up by 0.7% from 409m gal in the third quarter of 2012.
Year-to-date production in 2013 was 1.27bn gal though, up by 0.5% from 1.21bn gal from year-to-date production the same time in 2012.
Meanwhile, third quarter benzene inventories were at 97m gal, up by 24% from 79m gal in the third quarter of 2012.
However, 2013 third quarter inventories were down by 13% from 112m in the second quarter.
Major US benzene producers include ExxonMobil, Marathon, Flint Hills, Shell and LyondellBasell – all of which contributed production figures included in the AFPM survey.
