NEW YORK (ICIS)--US production of paraxylene (PX) rose 5% in the third quarter from the second quarter this year, according to data made available in a survey by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) on Thursday.
Production increased from 1.9bn lb (862,000 tonnes) in the second quarter to 2.0bn lb in the third quarter.
Compared to the third quarter of 2012, PX production increased 25% from 1.6bn lb in that quarter.
The change in year to date PX production was not evaluated because no data was available for the 2012 year to date period. PX production for 2013 year to date was 5.8bn lb, according to AFPM.
