SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao on 4 November restarted its 200,000 tonne/year phenol/acetone plant at Caojing after completing a scheduled maintenance, a source close to the company said on Tuesday.
The producer expects to achieve on-spec output at the plant around 8 November, the source said.
The plant, which can produce 120,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 80,000 tonnes/year of acetone, was taken off line 17 August to undergo an overhaul.
The producer undertook minor debottlenecking during the maintenance. However, it was not immediately clear whether the expanded capacity can be fully utilised, the source said.
In addition to the Caojing plant, Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao operates two phenol/acetone units at Pudong in Shanghai, with respective phenol/acetone capacities of 60,000 tonnes/year and 100,000 tonnes/year.
The two phenol/acetone units at the Pudong site are operating normally, the source said.
