LONDON (ICIS)--SABIC Europe has begun the restart of its Olefins 4 cracker based in Geleen, the Netherlands, following a planned maintenance turnaround, a company source said on Tuesday.
“After a thorough turnaround, SABIC has begun start-up of Geleen cracker Olefins 4. Start-up will take about a week,” the source said.
The source added that the start-up would be carefully executed because of the integration with upgrade projects.
“The integration of the upgrade projects together with the turnaround [means] the cracker remains safe and reliable for the next years and will be even more energy efficient,” the source said.
The No 4 cracker, the larger of the two owned by SABIC at the site, has the capacity to produce 675,000 tonnes/year of ethylene, according to ICIS data and was shut down for maintenance on 15-16 September.
