SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Yihua Toray Polyester Film Co Ltd has successfully started up its new 15,000 tonne/year polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film line at Yizheng city in Jiangsu province on 4 November, its part-owner Chinese petrochemical giant Sinopec said on Wednesday.
Yihua Toray is a 50:50 joint venture between the Asset Management Co Ltd of Sinopec, and Japan’s Toray Industries.
Investment details of the new PET line were not disclosed.
Yihua Toray has four other PET lines in Yizheng city with a total capacity of almost 30,000 tonnes/year.
Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fiber Co Ltd supplies the feedstock polyester chip to Yihua Toray, while Toray Industries provides the PET production technology.
PET films have applications in digital electronics, electrical appliances, optical film and the back sheet of solar panels.
