LONDON (ICIS)--European November styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) monthly contract prices have risen by €30-50/tonne ($41-68/tonne) – the third consecutive month of increases – following November’s butadiene (BD) monthly contract price settlement, sources said on Wednesday.

SBR 1500 grade settled at €1,470-1,540/tonne FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe), an increase of €50/tonne.

And 1723 and 1783 SBR grades settled at €1,350-1,400/tonne FD NWE and €1,310-1,380/tonne FD NWE respectively, increases of €30/tonne.

The November BD contract price settled at €900/tonne FD NWE, an increase of €75/tonne from October. Meanwhile November’s styrene barge contract price settled at €1,365/tonne FOB (free on board) ARA (Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp), down €85/tonne from October.

One SBR producer said the price increases were necessary to recover BD costs and the erosion of margins.
