SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhejiang Guxiandao Industrial Fiber has been operating its 100,000 tonne/year polyester unit which mainly produces fully drawn yarn (FDY) in Zhejiang province at full capacity following its recent restart, a company source said on Tuesday.
The polyester unit produced on-spec product material officially on 12 November, the source added, but did not disclose the exact restart date.
The polyester unit will produce semi-dull FDY in late November, according to the source.
Zhejiang Guxiandao Industrial Fiber shut the polyester unit down on 8 August for maintenance after incurring losses, the source said.
However, rising demand for polyester has increased trading activity in the market, which has led to depleting inventories as well, allowing the producer to increase output, one industry participant said.
