SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China's Shandong Hualu-Hengsheng Chemical has been operating only one of its two 80,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) lines at Dezhou in Shandong province throughout 2013, because of weak demand, a company source said on Thursday.
According to the source, the restart of the second ADA line will depend on the market outlook.
Domestic ADA prices were assessed at yuan (CNY) 10,100-12,400/tonne ($1,658-2,036/tonne) DEL (delivered) east China on 13 November, unchanged from 8 November, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
ADA is used primarily in the production of nylon 6,6 (polyamide 6,6) as well as in the manufacture of polyurethane (PU), which is found in shoe soles and polyester resins.
