HOUSTON (ICIS)--US urea imports in September 2013 were down by 35% from the same month a year earlier, according to data made available by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Tuesday.

Urea imports declined to 566,157 tonnes in September from 872,622 tonnes in September 2012. Imports fell in September mainly because of decreased product from Canada.

September 2013 urea imports were up from 403,283 tonnes in August 2013.

Qatar at 166,264 tonnes was the major source of US urea imports, followed by China at 130,205 tonnes and Saudi Arabia at 60,500.

Other sources included Bahrain, Canada and Kuwait.
