SINGAPORE(ICIS)--China’s Xianglu Petrochemical has postponed the start-up of its new 4.5m tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Zhangzhou in Fujian province to December, a company source said on Friday.
The plant’s start-up schedule has been postponed several times because of delayed arrival of facility parts, and a slower-than-expected construction work at a new upstream paraxylene (PX) unit, the source said.
The new PTA plant will be started up in phases, with the first of its three reactors expected to become operational early next month, the source said.
Each of the plant’s reactors has a 1.5m tonne/year capacity.
