SINGAPORE(ICIS)--Taiwan’s Oriental Petrochemical may keep its 400,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit at Kuanyin in Taoyuan off line up to end-December because of poor demand, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was shut on 6 November and was initially expected to be down until mid-December, the source said.
Lower operating rates of Taiwan’s polyester plants since October has resulted in weaker demand for PTA, the source said.
