SINGAPORE(ICIS)--Tuntex Petrochemical's 440,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) unit in Taiwan is currently shut because of poor demand, a company source said on Friday.
The plant was taken off line on 19 November, with the shutdown expected to last at least a month, the source said.
Production cutbacks of downstream polyester filament yarn and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plants in Taiwan has resulted in lower demand for PTA, the source said.
