EU E-SBR imports and exports up in September: Eurostat

LONDON (ICIS)--The EU’s emulsion styrene butadiene rubber (E-SBR) imports from the rest of the world increased in September, while exports were also up compared with the same period one year earlier, data from statistics agency Eurostat showed on Monday.

Imports rose by 103%, while exports were up by 54%.

Imports increased because Asian E-SBR spot prices were cheaper, which opened an arbitrage window between the two regions. In addition, imports from Russia have continued to compete strongly with western-European E-SBR prices despite weak demand.

The EU remains a net exporter of E-SBR, despite facing competition when other areas are cheaper.
