EU September pure MDI/TDI imports rise, exports drop

LONDON (ICIS)--EU imports of pure methyl di-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) and other isocyanates in September increased year on year while exports declined, according to data from the European statistics agency Eurostat on Monday.

These figures include other isocyanates such as toluene di-isocyanate (TDI), but they exclude crude MDI.

Year on year imports - while small in volume relative to the export market - have risen by 18.67% to 2,752 tonnes in September 2013. In the same monmth, exports fell by 24.30% to 20,124 tonnes.

Eurostat import/export data are subject to revision as more detailed information becomes available.
