SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Wanhua Chemical plans to shut down its two methyl di-p-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) units in Ningbo for maintenance and technical upgrades from 2 December, the Chinese producer said on Thursday.
The MDI units at Ningbo city in Zhejiang province will be shut for 25-40 days, the company said in a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The smaller of the two, with a 400,000 tonne/year capacity will be shut for 25 days, a source close to the company said. The plant’s capacity was increased by a third in August this year from 300,000 tonnes/year.
Meanwhile, the other unit with a 600,000 tonne/year capacity will be off line for a longer period of 40 days as the plant’s capacity will likely be expanded to 800,000 tonnes/year, the source said.
