SINGAPORE (ICIS)--State-owned PetroChina is planning to start up its new paraxylene (PX) unit at Pengzhou in Sichuan province in late-January/early-February next year, a source familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The new plant has a nameplate capacity of 650,000 tonnes/year of PX.
“The PX unit is likely to start up three to four weeks after commencing operations at its refinery at the same site,” the source added.
However, several market participants anticipate plans to be slightly delayed till after the Chinese Lunar New Year.
