SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Guangxi Petrochemical has been running its 100,000 tonne/year methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) unit at Qinzhou in Guangxi province smoothly following the start-up of the facility on 25 November, its parent company PetroChina said on Monday.
On-spec products were achieved on the same date, according to a statement from PetroChina.
Construction of the unit began in July 2012 and was completed on 22 October this year, it said.
Guangxi Petrochemical will primarily keep the MTBE output from the new plant for captive use for blending gasoline, PetroChina said.
