LONDON (ICIS)--European December dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) contract reference prices rolled over from November on Friday, following a rollover in upstream paraxylene (PX).

December DMT is valued at €939-980/tonne ($1,286-1,343/tonne), according to ICIS.

The January DMT price will be affected by an increase in the quarterly methanol contract price.

The European  methanol contract price for the first quarter has been confirmed at €445/tonne, up €37/tonne FOB (free on board) Rotterdam.

The general consensus from consumers is that they understand the arguments for such a large increase from a global perspective, but that for European consumers the high price will be difficult to swallow.
