SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Qinghai Salt Lake Industry is progressing smoothly with the trial runs at its new 1m tonne/year muriate of potash (MOP) unit at Qinghai in northwest China, a company source said on Monday.
The new unit, which costs yuan (CNY) 2.72bn ($448m), has produced 210,151 tonnes of MOP since the start of the test run from 14 September, the source added.
Currently, the MOP products have relatively high water content as the drying system has not been completed, according to the source.
The total MOP capacity from the company will reach 3.5m tonnes/year following the start-up, but the company has not set an exact start-up date for the new unit, a source close to the company said.
Qinghai Salt Lake Industry is one of the largest potash fertilizer producers in China.
