Japan's cast PP film output up by 2% in November

TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s production of cast polypropylene
(PP) film rose by 2% year on year to 14,208 tonnes in November, with domestic shipments up 2.1% to 14,049 tonnes, official data showed on Tuesday.
Of the total for domestic shipments, 11,660 tonnes were for food packaging, a 2.7% increase from the same time a year earlier, according to the Japan Polypropylene Film Industry Association.
Shipments for fibres and other applications, however, declined by 2% year on year to 1,740 tonnes, based on the data.
Exports rose by 10% to 418 tonnes from the previous year, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the country’s production of oriented PP film stood at 20,472 tonnes in November, up 2.8% year on year, while domestic shipments increased by 3.5% to 20,849 tonnes, according to the association.
Among the domestic shipments’ total, 16,268 tonnes were for food packaging, a 3.5% year on year increase, while 3,271 tonnes were shipped for industrial applications, up 4%, based on the statistics.
