SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenjiang LCY General Chemical has restarted its 24,000 tonne/year methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) plant in Jiangsu Province after keeping it off line for a scheduled turnaround for about two weeks, a source close to the company said on Thursday.

The plant was restarted on 31 December, the source added.

Zhenjiang LCY is a subsidiary of Taiwanese company LCY Chemical, which also operates a 20,000/tonne MIBK plant at Linyuan Taiwan.

The yuan-dominated domestic MIBK prices in east China reached close to yuan (CNY) 16,000/tonne ($2,645/tonne) ex-works in early December before settling at CNY 15,000/tonne ex-works by the end of December, data collated by ICIS showed.

Domestic MIBK prices were tracking the fluctuations of domestic feedstock acetone prices. The average acetone prices rose to CNY10,150/tonne ex-works by early December before falling to CNY9,650/tonne ($1595/tonne) ex-works on 20 December.
