HOUSTON (ICIS)--US November daily ethylene production was about 2.1% higher month on month, according to data released on Friday from consulting firm Jacobs Consultancy.

The firm’s Hodson Report showed US daily ethylene production at 152.54m lb/day (69,192 tonnes/day), up from the October rate of 149.35m lb/day.

The uptick was largely based on an increase in steam cracker operating rates, which climbed to 94.3% in November from 92.4% in October.

However, because of one less day of production in November compared with October, US total ethylene production fell almost 1.2% month on month.

The report showed that November ethylene production was 4.576bn lb, down from 4.630bn lb in October.

The cracker feedslate shifted slightly heavier during November despite an increase in ethane usage as a feedstock.

November ethane usage represented 62.9% of the feedslate, up from 62.5% in October. However, naphtha usage rose to 7.4% from 6.9% and butane rose to 5.1% from 4.3%.
