HOUSTON (ICIS) -- US exports of ethylene glycol monobutyl ethers (EB) and diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DB) increased by 47% year over year in November 2013, according to data made available on Thursday by the International Trade Commission (ITC).
DB and EB exports from the US were 21,998 tonnes for November 2013, up from 14,956 tonnes in November 2012 and up by 4% from 21,128 tonnes in October 2013.?xml:namespace>
Major destinations of EB and DB exports in November include 4,452 tonnes to Belgium and 4,144 tonnes to China.
Exports of these glycol ethers are also up for 2013 as a whole, with year to date figures of 204,483 tonnes as of November 2013, compared with 182,700 as of November 2012.
In November 2013, the US imported 1,245 tonnes of EB and DB, an increase of 13% from 1,101 tonnes in November 2012 and 89% from 657 tonnes in October 2013. During November, the US imported 827 tonnes from Germany and 204 tonnes from India.
Year-to-date import figures as of November 2013 are 6,346 tonnes, an increase of 25% from 5,058 tonnes for the first 11 months of 2012.
