HOUSTON (ICIS) – LyondellBasell subsidiaries Lyondell Chemical and Equistar Chemicals have proposed a 3 cents/lb ($66/tonne) price increase on glycol ethers, effective 1 February or as contracts allow, sources said on Thursday.?xml:namespace>
The off-list price increase is for ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (EB), diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DB), propylene glycol methyl ether (PM) and propylene glycol methyl ether acetate (PMA), along with electronic grade PM-EL and PMA-EL.
The price increases are not to exceed list prices of 174 cents/lb ($3,836/tonne) for EB, 192 cents/lb for DB, 173 centa/lb for PM and 188 cents/lb for PMA.
Other producers have proposed 3 cent/lb price increases for glycol ethers this week, including Eastman Chemical and Dow Chemical.
ICIS-assessed contract price ranges for glycol ethers are 86-90 cents/lb for EB, 100-102 cents/lb for DB and 112-114 cents/lb for PM and PMA.
