SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical has restarted its 250,000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (HDPE) unit after a shutdown of nearly 20 days, a source close to the company said on Thursday.
The unit in Shanghai resumed operations on 11 February, the source said without disclosing the plant’s current run rate.
The unit was taken off line on January 24 because of a shortage in feedstock ethylene, the source said.
Shanghai Petrochemical is one of the major producers of HDPE in east China.
