HOUSTON (ICIS)--Axalta Coating Systems plans to build a new $60m plant for waterborne industrial coatings at its site in Wuppertal, Germany, the former DuPont performance coatings business said on Thursday.

The plant is expected to start up in the first quarter of 2015 when it will supply customers in the automotive and other industries.

In February, US-based Axalta announced the third leg of a three-year investment programme to expand waterborne capacity in Brazil, and in January, it broke ground on construction to expand waterborne capacity in Shanghai.

Axalta is part of US investment firm Carlyle, which bought the business early last year from DuPont.
