LONDON (ICIS)--A major European bisphenol A (BPA) producer intends to increase its March contract offer by €90/tonne, it confirmed Friday.
The producer said the recent fall in cheap Asian BPA imports into Europe meant it was confident in increasing the March price despite expectation of a decrease in the March contract of feedstock phenol.
“We are in a position where we want to be a bit bullish,” it said.
The majority of BPA contracts in Europe are agreed on a formula basis dependent on the benzene and phenol contract prices, but producers and buyers also freely-negotiate contracts on a monthly basis.
