SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Shanghai Sinopec Mitsui Chemicals (SSMC) shut its bisphenol A (BPA) plant in Shanghai, China, on 14 March for a turnaround, a company source said on Friday.

The 120,000 tonne/year BPA plant will offline at least until 25 April. Depending on the maintainance at Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical’s phenol/acetone plant, the maintenance is expected to last for 40-45 days, the source added.

Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical provides phenol and acetone, the feedstock of BPA, to SSMC, so the start-up schedule for the SSMC plant is partially linked to that of the Shanghai Gaoqiao plant.
