LONDON (CNI)--Germany's BASF said Thursday it has inaugurated
its 40 000 tonne/year acrylic dispersions plant in Shanghai,
China.
The plant, which is located at the BASF Colorants and Chemicals
Co (BACC) site, came onstream earlier this year. Its main
feedstocks are acrylic acid, acrylic monomer and styrene, all of
which come from BASF's global production network. No details of the
investment cost were disclosed.
BASF said the new facility will produce a range of
Acronal dispersions for the surface coatings, adhesive,
construction and non-woven industries as well as Basoplast
polymeric sizing agents for the paper industry. Production is aimed
at the Chinese market, although exports are planned for other
countries in Asia as well.
The company currently produces acrylic dispersions in India,
Pakistan, Indonesia, Australia, Philippines and Japan as well as at
BACC.
