Video: European nuclear woes

The Japanese Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011 has had strong knock-on effects on the development of the European nuclear power sector. It forced some countries to consider phasing out nuclear power, with Germany committing to exit the sector by the end of 2022. Other European countries are going ahead with planning and constructing new nuclear reactors, but this has become more difficult due to stricter safety standards and higher public scrutiny. Several projects have been delayed by many years and have become more expensive than initially expected. In this Switched on ICIS video , Jamie Stewart, editor of ICIS’s power report, discusses the state of play in the current European nuclear landscape with reporters Joachim Moxon and Ellie Chambers.
