LONDON (ICIS)–Third-quarter contract negotiations in the European polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) market continued this week, sources said on Friday.

Early settlements were heard at a rollover. However, the vast majority of talks were ongoing.

Talks are expected to continue for the next few weeks, with some players only starting talks last week.

Players are continuing to talks about the levels of Asian imports entering Europe, with some saying imports have started to fall. Despite this overall supply remains at a balanced to long level.

Demand remains at a good level although it has the potential to soften as the quarter continues.

Traditionally, businesses in southern Europe close for a holiday period in August, which results in buyers accessing inventory levels.

However, sellers are still continuing to cite good levels, with levels in July and September both expected to be reasonable.

Standard-grade PMMA into the extruded sheet sector is priced at €1.90-2.05/kg FD (free delivered) NWE (northwest Europe) for the second quarter.
