Some 1m people join the South Asia workforce every month and so finding enough work for most of these young people is essential. A lot will depend on China and its overseas investments in the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) region. South Asia is in the OBOR. And a lot will also hinge on the pace with which job-destroying robotics and artificial intelligence technologies are adopted. It is very possible that the pace of adoption will be held back for the sake of creating work in labour intensive industries such as textiles and garments.
