Russia’s PE imports up 18% in January-September

MOSCOW (MRC)–Imports of polyethylene (PE) into Russia reached 543,000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2019, up by 18% year on year, according to an MRC’s DataScope report.

High density polyethylene (HDPE) accounted for the greatest increase in imports, totaling 266,900 tonnes in January-September, compared to 181,600 tonnes a year earlier, with pipe grade and film grade recording the largest increases.

Imports of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) stood at 127,100 tonnes, down 7% year on year, while LDPE imports reached 78,500 tonnes in January-September, up 16% year on year.

Imports of ethylene-vinyl-acetate (EVA) and other ethylene polymers stood at 70,600 tonnes in the first nine months of 2019, versus 74,100 tonnes a year earlier.
