Aromatic and aliphatic solvents Overview Transcript

Aromatic solvents are solvents used by fuel blenders to increase octane levels in gasoline, while both aromatic and aliphatic solvents are both used in the making of paint and coatings.

Aromatic and aliphatic solvents are seasonal products. Aromatics are affected by price and demand changes in gasoline and crude oil markets. Spot barge solvent prices also affect price movements in aromatic solvents.

Aliphatic solvents demand is also affected by manufacturing and construction sectors. Aliphatic solvent demand generally slows in the winter.

Price movements of spot barge toluene, and mixed xylene will strongly influence aromatic solvents prices.
