Ethylbenzene US Transcript
The US Gulf ethylbenzene report that we cover at ICIS is concentrated, mostly by looking at ethylene and benzene.
It’s updated whenever the ethylene contract settles and whenever the benzene contract settles.
Now that could take anything from a month to two months, even three months, so it really, depends on what happens in those feedstocks. Those feedstocks are very crucial to the ethyl benzene report that we cover.
We assess our ethylbenzene price really, thorough calculation we look at what happens in the upstream ethylene market and in the feedstock benzene market. Those two markets are very crucial to the US Gulf ethylbenzene price that we publish.
We get our information from a wide variety of sources, producers, buyers, traders. Not just in North America but globally in Europe and Asia as well and that goes onto the report, it’s reflected in the report, it also goes into the accuracy it just… getting a good on… a whole on feel for what’s going on in aromatics and olefins as well. That’s exactly why this is a good report to look at.

Insight and analysis of factors driving prices.
Updated to Q3 2016
US ethylbenzene prices moved higher during the third quarter amid climbing prices for feedstock benzene and relatively stable prices for downstream styrene.
Ethylbenzene prices had fallen in the second quarter, as demand for exports of downstream styrene eased. In Q3, the downstream styrene market remained tight and demand for exports recovered slightly.
Meanwhile, upstream benzene prices during Q3 climbed sharply amid limited import levels and reduced on-purpose benzene production. Prices for ethylene, another component of ethylbenzene, also moved higher during Q3.
The pressure from feedstock costs moved ethylbenzene prices higher as the spread between benzene and styrene prices narrowed.
