Metallocene linear low density polyethylene Overview Transcript
Metallocene linear low density polyethylene or MLLDPE is commonly marketed as a premium resin with superior features such as improved stability and stretchability for food and industrial packaging applications.
Global lldPE capacity was estimated at over 30 million tonnes in 2010, with less than 20% of this quantity accounted by metallocene LLDPE. It is widely seen as an emerging market in Asia.
Much of the positive outlook for this material is generated by its growing popularity in the key China market, where consumption was estimated at 300,000 tonnes in 2010.
Many established producers have been actively developing new markets and new applications for metallocene LLDPE in recent years because; they expect the conventional LLDPE market to be overcrowded with new Middle East capacity.
The start up of new Middle East and Asia capacity over the next few years, may turn this niche polyethylene product into a commodity.
