Hexane market overview
Hexane market dynamics have been overall stable recently despite some expected summer slowdown seen in Europe recently. Hexane prices continue to be directed by upstream naphtha activity. In September 2016, European naphtha markets were given a boost by good gasoline blending and domestic petrochemical demand, while production has declined slightly because of refinery maintenance.
Naphtha solvent market overview
Naphtha solvent market conditions are balanced with swings in pricing directed by upstream gasoline movements. In terms of cyclical trends, demand stays at a good level in Q1, Q2 and Q4 with a summer holiday slowdown seen in Q3.
White spirit market overview
White spirit demand has dwindled recently in the last couple of years due to some players withdrawing from the market due to oversupply along with environmental concerns in the decorative paint sector which has led to a shift in using water based chemical formulas.
White spirit prices are largely dictated by jet kerosene feedstock costs. Summer is a strong period for jet kerosene demand and needs are likely to be cooling as the holiday season ends.
