Soda ash Asia Transcript
The weekly Asia Soda Ash report has wide acceptance in the region and is viewed by many players as an important reference price indicator.
It includes three price quotes for the dense grade, covering exports out of China and imports into North East and South East Asia.
For the light grade, there is one quote which tracks exports from China.
The focus on China is primarily because of it’s emergence as the biggest Soda Ash producing country in the world. Exports out of China, which are mainly directed at Indonesia, Korea and Thailand, are contained in the FOB China price quote.
These trade flows are also reflected in the North East Asia and South East Asia price quotes.
India has also emerged as a significant producer and consumer of Soda Ash in recent years. Information on the Indian market is regularly reported in the commentary section of the report.
