SPECIALITY CHEMICAL SALES EXPANDS ITS US
DISTRIBUTION NETWORK
Specialty Chemical Sales,
Inc. (SCS), has expanded its distribution of the Momentive
Versatic acids to include Southern Virginia, North and South
Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi,
Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. The changes took

TEAM EXPANDS AT TLC INGREDIENTS
TLC
Ingredients has announced several new hires following the
loss of head of operations department, Jim Cavelle, and
reshuffling of existing personnel. Mike Pierce joined the
team as director of operations on September 29 and is
responsible for all areas of operations, including food
safety, quality, environmental, health, safety and security,
warehousing, logistics, packaging, terminal services,
customer service and purchasing. Pierce will also serve as
co-code coordinator for Responsible Distribution. A new
position of regulatory and food safety coordinator has also
been created and Dino Eleftheropoulos appointed. He will work
with Pierce on TLC’s quality, regulatory and food safety
programs. Dino will also take over as co-code coordinator for
the Responsible Distribution code of management practices for
NACD. Meanwhile, assistant controller, Kathy Broyles, has
been promoted to director of finance and administration.
SUPERIOR OIL CO. GREETS REP. WAGNER TO ITS MISSOURI
FACILITY
Superior Oil Company, Inc. has hosted
Rep. Ann Wagner (R-MO) at its Arnold, Missouri facility to
educate her on the chemical distribution industry and how the
company uses programs like NACD’s Responsible Distribution®
to stay safe. “Superior places a high value on building
relationships with elected officials, and we were doubly
proud today to show Congresswoman Wagner how we operate,”
stated Superior Oil Company president Kurt Hettinga. “As
other chemical distribution companies are well aware, we need
more leaders in Washington who understand the positive role
our industry plays in creating jobs and growing the economy.
We were grateful to have the opportunity to demonstrate those
contributions to Congresswoman Wagner this afternoon.”
ANMAR IS THE LATEST ACQUISITION FOR CELLMARK
CHEMICALS
CellMark Chemicals, a division of CellMark AB, has bought
Bridgeport, Connecticut-based AnMar International Ltd. as
part of its long term strategy to bolster its global
presence in specialty markets, and to expand its custom
manufacturing capabilities. AnMar is a manufacturer and
distributor of vitamins, plant extracts, nutraceutical
ingredients, amino acids, and other fine chemical related
products. “The owners of AnMar have done an exceptional job
at establishing itself in the US nutraceuticals market with
good quality suppliers and its own manufacturing
capabilities…with the added capabilities of CellMark’s
financial strength and global reach we see a winning
combination for AnMar’s suppliers, customers, and employees,”
says Hugo Galletta, head of CellMark’s chemical division.
HUBBARD-HALL, INC. IS GETTING A NEW CEO AT THE START
OF 2015
Molly C. Kellogg, currently executive
vice president of Hubbard-Hall Inc., is set to become
president and CEO after the retirement of Andrew K. Skipp on
December 31. She will assume the role from January 1, 2015.
Kellogg and Skipp are sixth generation family members of the
company, whose roots date to 1849. In announcing the change,
Charles T. Kellogg, chairman and CFO, said: “With 20 years of
experience in the company and having worked in virtually
every department, Molly has a deep understanding of the
company’s internal strengths and external opportunities.
She’s committed to growing the business and brings a unique,
long term perspective to our future success.” Skipp announced
his retirement to the Board of Directors on September 4,
after a 37 year career at Hubbard-Hall. The past 15 have been
in his current role.
EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT SEALED BY FITZ CHEM
AND IMERYS
Fitz Chem and Imerys have agreed an
exclusive distribution agreement for the ImerCare product
line in the Central US. The ImerCare brand of natural
minerals with Ecocert approval is new to North America,
introduced for the first time at the May 2014 New York SCC
Suppliers Day. ImerCare performance additives are derived
from natural Perlite, Diatomite, Mica and Kaolin – and
improve the functionality and sensory perception of personal
care products and cosmetics. From deodorant to face powder,
from toothpaste to hair and body care, ImerCare® products
enable formulators to achieve their desired specifications
using natural minerals in place of additives.
NEW PRESIDENT IS REVEALED BY UNIVAR LATIN
AMERICA
Effective September 1, Marco Antonio
Quirino is the new president of Univar Latin America. He will
report to David Flitman, chief operating officer and
president of Univar USA and Latin America. Quirino will
manage the company’s businesses in Mexico and Brazil in
support of Univar’s operations in the Latin America market.
He will be responsible for driving growth and developing
partner relationships across Univar’s key industries in the
region, including polyurethanes (PUs), personal care, food,
agrochemicals, coatings, and oilfield services.
SE TYLOSE APPOINTS GMZ AND EW KAUFMANN AS DISTRIBUTOR
PARTNERS
SE Tylose appointed GMZ and EW
Kaufmann from September 1, as regional distributor partners
for the Tylose product line of cellulose ethers. The complete
portfolio of methyl & hydroxyethyl cellulose ether grades
as they relate to paint polymerization and other industrial
markets (excludes personal care/household, industrial &
institutional ) will be managed by EW Kaufmann in the
Northeast and by GMZ in the Midwest and Ohio Valley. In the
CASE market, GMZ and EW Kaufmann join the other two divisions
of KODA Distribution Group, namely Ribelin Sales and P.T.
Hutchins in representing SE Tylose. KODA Construction
Solutions will continue to represent SE Tylose nationally for
the construction market.
DISTRIBUTION AWARD GOES TO MCCULLOUGH &
ASSOCIATES
Bayer MaterialScience has revealed
McCullough & Associates as the recipient of the 2013 CAS
Distributor StraCo Award. The criteria for the award includes
overall sales growth, growth of specific StraCo product line
areas and adding new customers to the Bayer portfolio. This
is McCullough & Associates’ fifth StraCo win since 2007.
TRI TEAMBUILDING EVENT LENDS A HELPING HAND TO PEOPLE
IN NEED
Staff from TRInternational, Inc. (TRI)
used a teambuilding activity to construct 10 prosthetic hands
for amputees from developing countries. The event marked the
company’s 20th anniversary in August, and saw 27 employees
from across North America convene at the Seattle headquarters
for the OdysseyTeams’ “Helping Hands” training solutions
program. The strap-on plastic hands, designed by the Ellen
Meadows Prosthetic Hand Foundation, are composed of moving
and non-moving high-grip digits controlled by a spring-loaded
mechanism.
OHIO FACILITY UNVEILED BY PVC NOLWOOD HELPS EXPAND
FOOTPRINT
PVS Nolwood, a division of PVS
Chemicals, has opened a new facility in Sharonville, OH.
This allows the company to expand their distribution
footprint further. The grand opening on October 23 saw
customers, vendors, prospects and city officials tour the
101,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility. It also
allowed this new market to meet key personnel within the PVS
Chemicals organization. The site is located to the north of
Cincinnati – enabling PVS to reach Louisville, KY,
Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH and the greater
Cincinnati/Dayton market. “We are excited about the
opportunity to partner with the city of Sharonville to
expand our business and our service capabilities to our
customers in a safe and reliable manner,” says Tracy
Temple, vice president of sales and marketing. “This new
facility will not only help PVS and our customers grow, but
will ultimately impact the growth of the local economies of
Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky as well.”
DATACOR, INC. PARTNERS WITH FORMULATOR SOFTWARE,
LLC
Software developer Datacor, Inc., has
announced a joint venture with Formulator Software, LLC to
integrate FORMULATOR™ and Chempax functionality, to
streamline the collaborative process between laboratory and
production. “Formulator’s expertise in the lab combined with
our experience in production and operations gives our
customers a powerful end to end solution for bringing
products to market. We know this is going to be a huge
success for our customers,” says Sean W. O’Donnell, Datacor
president.
MAROON GROUP HIRES SEVERAL KEY STAFF AND SEALS
ADDIPEL DEAL
Maroon Group LLC has welcomed
Brian Wilson to its team as chief financial officer. The
company expects Wilson’s background with multi-billion dollar
Fortune 500 and private-equity owned companies to help drive
Maroon Group through organic growth as well as mergers and
acquisitions. “Brian Wilson brings a wealth of financial
experience to Maroon Group LLC,” says Mark E. Reichard,
president and CEO of Maroon Group. “He has an extensive
background and successful tenure in all areas of financial
management, credit relationships, and executive team
support. He understands the path we hope to follow as organic
growth and strategic expansion remain our focus.” The company
has also appointed Howard Hubert as chief commercial officer,
and Anton Dolenc as director of operations, Avon. Hubert has
experience in the industrial gas distribution industry. Prior
to joining Maroon Group, he was senior vice president of the
packaged gas division for Matheson-Trigas. Dolence has
experience in warehouse, distribution, and logistics
management. Meanwhile, Maroon Group has also announced the
acquisition of Addipel, LLC, a custom blender and re-packager
based in Avon Lake, OH. “Maroon Group is excited to expand
our value added service offering with the acquisition of
Addipel,” says Mark E. Reichard, president and CEO of Maroon
Group. “This is a milestone for our organization as Addipel
is our first acquisition in our 37-year history.”

RADCHEM PRODUCTS, INC GROWS WITH THREE NEW TEAM
MEMBERS
Radchem Products, Inc. has seen several
new additions to its staff in recent months, most recently
with Will Radostits joining as logistics and marketing
manager. Radostits was appointed in August and will be
focusing on logistics, transportation, supply, sales support,
marketing and terminal relations. He’s a graduate from the
University of Iowa and previously had an internship with
Radchem in 2011. In July, the company also hired Chris Widup
– as a sales representative covering Central & Southern
Illinois, Missouri and Iowa – and Don Vlasaty who is now
supply and purchasing manager.
CONGRESSMAN GIBSON PAYS A VISIT TO KIC CHEMICALS’
SITE
Rep. Chris Gibson (R-NY) visited KIC
Chemicals, Inc. headquartered in New Paltz, NY, to learn
about the chemical distribution industry and how the small
business is working to ensure their facility and the local
community is safe through programs like Responsible
Distribution. “We were delighted to host a visit by
Congressman Chris Gibson, and honored that he found the time
to learn about our business and our concerns,” states KIC
Chemicals president Ed Kort. “He made several specific
suggestions as to how he can help us, and we look forward to
working with his office.”

Producers Chemical Company has
welcomed Rep. Randy Hultgren (R-IL) back to its Sugar Grove,
